This module provides students with a comprehensive overview of sensors used in agricultural engineering. The different functional principles and applications of different sensors and sensor systems as well as their evaluation are a central content of the module. Example sensors and their data will be recorded in practical exercise. Data as well as their limitations will be discussed and evaluated.

• Ability to explain the principles of key sensor types used in agriculture, including physical, chemical, me
chanical, optical, and remote sensors.
• Compare different sensing technologies (e.g., soil sensors, plant health sensors, environmental sen
sors, animal sensors, drone/mounted sensors) in terms of accuracy, resolution, cost and appropriateness for specific tasks.
• Evaluate sensor setups in real-world agricultural systems, including spatial and temporal resolution re
quirements
• Use software for visualizing and analyzing sensor data
• Basics in survey and experimental data, descriptive statistics, basic idea of spatial statistics
