Contents of the module:
This module covers a comprehensive spectrum of topics in agricultural robotics, ranging from an exploration
of various robot types, including free-range robots, barn-based systems, and fully autonomous field vehicles—
to technical aspects such as robot perception, localization, and navigation. It emphasizes the integration of
software tools like ROS, while also addressing the design and construction principles exemplified using real-world examples.

The module examines the motivations and challenges behind adopting robotic systems in
agriculture, offers insights into international market trends and production landscapes, and provides hands-
on experiences through coding exercises, field trips and industry contact. Additionally the module aims to
categorize different robot designs and autonomy levels, their abilities and limitations, and a categorization of
the robotic systems. To understand the challenges in robot design, the module sheds light on the legal and
social framework in different countries.
